Travel Insurance

Whether you are going on a business trip or taking your family on vacation. Travel insurance is, and should be an important part of your trip. You should not leave without it.

Why travel insurance?

The last thing most people think of when planning their vacation or business trip is travel insurance. It just doesn't seem that important until the unthinkable happens and you do. Flight insurance is the most common insurance that people are offered. It can be added for as little as fifty dollars and up. Flight insurance covers accidental death, dismemberment, and lost luggage.

Travel agents offer travel insurance.

You're taking your family on summer vacation. You called a travel agent and s/he is taking care of everything. She asks if you would like to add the travel insurance. What do you say? A travel agent goes through a third party insurance company and usually can get you a better deal on travel insurance. They have a broader range of insurance that they cover. A travel agent will get you travel insurance that fits your needs for the trip. The travel insurance that you choose can cover basic things such as trip cancellation and travel delay, but it can also cover medical, hotel, food, and rental cars.

Check your insurance policy

You will want to check your insurance to see if your insurance covers accidental death if you're flying or going overseas. If it doesn't then you should make sure that you get the travel insurance. You can be affected from trip delays or cancellations and if your tickets are non-refundable without travel insurance, you may become stuck where you are at.

Credit card travel insurance?

If you choose to buy your plane tickets, hotel and everything else that you may need for your trip, you can contact your credit card company and find out if they offer some type of travel insurance as long as you use the card. Some credit card companies offer travel insurance for the medical, luggage, and even death.

Travel insurance is a great safety net for any family wanting to make sure that they are safe. Some travel insurance companies have age limits. There are companies that will cover your children for free. Remember to read the fine print when you choose the travel insurance that you use.

Always remember that travel insurance is meant to give us more room and time to do the things we want without worrying. You should always get more then one quote for travel insurance to make sure that you are getting what you need. You may also want to check and see if you have to pay up front such as hotel rooms and food, if your travel insurance has to be used. If so, make sure that you keep all receipts so that you can be reimbursed from your travel insurance company.
